On June 1st, 1985 the Blesch family opened Nick Nackery at the corner of Virginia and Heidelbach. Selling primarily bedding plants in its first summer, Nick Nackery quickly expanded their offerings to include fireworks, t-shirts, knick knacks and gifts. A couple short years later Nick Nackery found the product that would go on to transform their business, Halloween costumes.

Over the next three and a half decades the Blesch family would grow Nick Nackery from an eight hundred square foot knick knack shop to one of the largest year around costumes stores in the country. In addition to thousands of Halloween costumes Nick Nackery continues to carry gags, gifts, magic, party supplies and theatrical quality makeup. Nick Nackery’s success has allowed the Blesch family to play an active role in the community by contributing tens of thousands of dollars to local charities, supporting other local businesses, and giving countless teens their first job.

As Nick Nackery nears its 36-year anniversary we are looking to the future and will begin a search to find a new owner to take Nick Nackery into the next decade. Nick Nackery will remain open during this search. We are committed to finding a new owner who will not only continue Nick Nackery’s legacy but also expand the business into the future. Nick Nackery’s owner, Suzy Blesch, would like to offer her deepest gratitude to our amazing community who has supported Nick Nackery over the past 35 years. Suzy is looking forward to retirement, traveling and starting her new position as full time grandma to her 4 beautiful grandchildren.
